Daily Bread begins: day one

Daily Bread Network goes from an idea to become a reality.

Every project has a day one. Daily Bread Network's official date of incorporation was May 26, 2026, though the groundwork had been laid a few months prior. David Mitchell, our founder, had the idea to build software that would aid in unifying the invisible church for some time, but for years it remained only an idea. Mitchell had discussed this passion with different friends within the software and computer science industry multiple times, though each conversation left him more discouraged than the last. After intermittent prayer over a period of a few years, Mitchell ultimately realized that he couldn't listen to the wisdom of men, but instead had to follow a deep desire to serve the church in this way.

If you speak to David about Daily Bread Network's official inception, he never fails to give significant credit to his alma mater, and specifically to Dr. Yohan Lee, Associate Dean of Technology and Professor of Computer Science at Biola University. Dr. Lee was instrumental in providing the founder with his first employee, as well as invaluable spiritual encouragement in supporting the idea and offering notable advice.

Once the project was underway, the momentum hasn't stopped, with the team growing from two to five members. To learn more about the faces behind the app, visit our Team page or connect with us here.
